ROOSEVELT ECC AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
|
ACADEMICS
The Roosevelt ECC After-School Program operates Monday through Thursday from
3:30 to 6:30pm.
The program is held at All Saints School located at 205 Esser Ave.
The program is open to all Roosevelt students in grades 1through 4. We have four
certified teachers who run the academic portion of our program. In addition to
homework help we provide additional classroom instruction which supplements and
supports the curriculum at Roosevelt ECC. Our program emphasises Math and
English Language Arts (ELA).
Our third and fourth grade classes also prepare for the NYS Assessment tests in both
Math and ELA.
HEALTHY SNACKS
In between our academic and social / recreational modules we offer all our
students a healthy snack. We are trying something new this year we will be
publishing a monthly menu for our snacks.
The menu will be available at our program site and on-line.

SOCIAL / RECREATION
In addition to our academic modules our program offers a wide variety of social and recreational
options for our students.
Physical Education - All students participate in physical education sessions twice a week. Our program
will address the development of those gross and fine motor skills our students will need as they develop
physically. Oh yeah we play games and have a lot of fun.
Computer Lab - All students have the opportunity to work on their
computer skills in our state of the art computer lab. We have
ten desktop computers in which our students can complete
classroom assignments, write papers or
surf the Internet for information or fun.
Arts & Crafts - All students have the opportunity to create wonderful
arts & crafts projects, color and draw.
Board Games / Puzzles - Did you ever just want to play? We provide our students the ability to just play
either board games or put puzzle together.
Theatre Workshop - In cooperation with the African-American Cultural Society we offer a theatre
workshop for our 3rd and 4th grade students. Our program instructor Ms. Lydia Al-Amin teaches the
basics of on-stage performance and back-stage operations while preparing our students for two
productions, one at the Holiday break in December and the second at the end of the program in early
June.
Youth for Unity - This year we will be running the Youth for Unity curriculum for all students in the
program. Youth for Unity will teach our students the concept of diversity while addressing the need to
cultivate individuality, build a cultural identity, and appreciate diversity.
