SOCIAL / RECREATION
Physical Education - All students participate in physical education daily. Our
program addresses the development of those gross and fine motor skills
our students will need as they develop physically. They play games and have
a lot of fun.
Computer Lab - All students have the opportunity to work on their
computer skills in our state of the art computer lab. Through the
cooperation of the principal and staff of West Hertel Academy, our students
have access to desktop computers in which our students can complete
classroom assignments, participate in "Ticket to Read" or visit other
educational websites that broaden our students' education.
Cooking - Student learn about basic culinary arts and the diverse cultural
backgrounds associated with each meal prepared. Students also study
proper nutrition, hygiene during food preparation and safety precautions
while in the kitchen.
Arts & Crafts/Music - All students have the opportunity to create
wonderful arts & crafts projects, color and draw. Student explore their
creative abilities through fun and exciting activities.
Life Skills - Behavior modification is offered through partnerships with other
non-profit organizations specifically designed to enrich students' social
growth and behavioral management in classes that address anti-bullying and
anger management.
Board Games / Puzzles - We provide our students the ability to just play
either board games or complete puzzles. Students enjoy the one on one
interaction with their peers and teachers to cultivate lasting friendships and
enhance mental strategy skills and eye/hand coordination dexterity.

The program is open to all West Hertel Academy
students in grades 4-8.

ACADEMICS
The West Hertel After-School Program provides
homework help and academic instruction. Our
program emphasises Math and English Language
Arts (ELA) which supplements and supports the
curriculum at West Hertel Academy. We have
certified teachers who run the academic portion of
our program collaboratively with the teaching staff
of West Hertel Academy.

HEALTHY SNACKS
In between our academic and social / recreational
modules we offer all our students a nutritious
snack compliments of Buffalo Public Schools.
