WHO WE ARE: WIC stands for Women, Infants and Children. It is a supplemental nutrition program that provides FREE healthy foods.
- Nutrition Education: Learn how to choose healthy foods
and how to fix healthy meals.
- Breastfeeding Support and Assistance
- Referrals to Other Services
WIC HELPS ELIGIBLE:
- Pregnant Women
- Breastfeeding mothers of babies up to twelve months old
- Mothers of babies up to six months old
- Children up to 5 years old
WHAT DO YOU RECEIVE? Checks for WIC foods that you can use at a participating neighborhood store.

YOU CAN RECEIVE WIC EVEN IF:
- You are not a legal resident, a green card
is not needed
- You are not a US citizen
- You do not have a social security number
- You or other household members work
- You are a foreign student (F-I Visa)
- You are income eligible for WIC if you
receive Medicaid, Food Stamps or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), or if children receive free or reduced price school meals.
- You must be a New York State resident.
Families who meet income guidelines will be assessed by a health care professional for medical or nutritional risks.

HOW DO PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE THEIR FOOD? After your initial orientation, WIC food checks will be distributed to eligible participants on a tri-monthly basis. WIC checks can be redeemed at numberous approved stores in New York State.
