Advisory Board Meeting - Thursday, September 2nd , at 1:00 p.m.
Book Club - Fran has been approached by a few new senior who have recently joined our center and want to form a book club. If interested see Fran for more information. (Book club members would meet at the center and agree on a book to read and then have discussions on a regular basis regarding what they are reading) Books will have to be purchased by the reader.
Card Party – Thursday, September 9th, cake bakers and card players are always welcome and very much appreciated. This is one of the only ways we raise money for our senior center. Please join us!!
Alternate Salads – Available on Wednesday September 2nd. If you would like the salad (rather than the regular menu), just sign the lunch list with an (S) next to the Day we are offering the salad as a menu choice.
Wednesday, September 15th - Sharon Moran from the New York State Sherriff's office will be here to discuss Crime Prevention for Senior Citizens. They will be here at 11:30 a.m. to answer all your questions.
Exercise Room/Class - is going strong!! It is held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, but you must have a note from your doctor to participate. So far about 15 people registered with doctor's permission.
AARP Safe Driving Class - for September will be held on Monday and tuesday September 20th and 21st for 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. you must attend both classes for insurance reduction. Call 851-5117 to register.
Gentle Yoga Class !!! Join us September 16th. The Northwest Seniors will now add to their activities a Gentle Yoga Class once a week for a ten week session. Classes are taught by yoga Instructor monica Zucco. Come to our introductory class on September 16th to learn more about them. The first few classes will be free. After that they will be $1.00 per session. If the group wants to extend the class we will do so after out 10 week trail period. the classes are being subsidized by Mr. Joe Golombek.

Birthday Party For September – Friday, September 17th, for all September birthdays. If you have a birthday in September and are a regular participant in our lunch program, join us on Friday, September 17th and the Northwest Adivsory Board will pay for your lunch that day. Free cake and ice cream for all lunch participants..
Please Note: We offer a lunch program here at Northwest. You may take your milk and/or cookies home with you, BUT AT NO TIME are any portion of the hot lunch to be taken out of the building. If you are caught taking food out, you will be asked to leave the senior program. We could lose our lunch program if you do not heed our Erie County Lunch Program rules! Tops/Wegman's/McDonald's all have food to take out. NOT NORTHWEST!!
Craft Class - Is off to a good start. their mission is to meet on fridays at 10:30 a.m. to share and discuss craft patterns/ideas and to work on them as a class with individuals in the class rotating the projects. they also would like to have raffles, craft bazaars etc. Do you have a specific talent that you would like to share with the class? All are welcome.
Pizza Party - Septemeber 27th Monday. Free pizza and soda at 1:30 p.m. for all lunch participants. Join us for free coffee, free baked goods and free soda too. All for the cost of buying a lunch today!!
Wednesday September 22nd - Mr. Joe Sadler will be here to discuss identity theft protection at 11:30 a.m. he will talk about many ways of preventing seiors becoming victims of identity theft.

THE CENTER IS CLOSED MONDAY SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2010 FOR LABOR DAY. HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY!!!!
Fort Erie Race Track Trip – Monday September 20th. We will be going our last time to Fort Erie this year on Monday September 20th. Ticket cost $25.00 and includes transporation, sit down lunch at the Turf Club Dining Room and $10.00 in coins for the Casino. Please remember, you need proof (passport, Nexus Card, Enhanced License, Passport card) to cross over into Canada. We will leave the center at 10:00 a.m. and return after the last race. Tickets go on sale Tuesday September 7th. ** The center will be CLOSED on Monday, September 20th, the day of the trip. There will be NO LUNCHES and NO PROGRAM offered that day.
STAR Program for Reduced Taxes.
For City of Buffalo Residents ONLY. The City Assessors Office will be here on Thursday, September 9th at night this month, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Please make sure you have all the appropriate paperwork when you attend this program. First come, first served. No Appointment neccessary.
Special Monday BINGO – Will be held on Monday September 13th, (due to Labor Day). Congratulations to our winners of free lunches - won at our August Special Monday Bingo. (These prizes are not transferable, only the winner may collect the prize.) The winners are: Sue Ravensbro, Angie Trybus, Irene Klocek, Doris Lyman, and Evelyn Diadaszek. Please remember you must purchase a lunch to play Bingo to be eligitable to get a raffle ticket for our October Free Lunch Raffle. NO EXCEPTIONS.!!
Aaron Bunch from Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables - will be here on Friday September 3rd at 11:45 a.m. to have a sample/tasting of her latest recipes. She will also pass out recipes for fall goodies to all who signed in for lunch. If you are signed in for lunch you will also be registered to win a Fruit/Veggie Bag FREE!!!
Our "After Labor Day" - last picnic of the year. Councilmember Golombek and crew Sandy and Tim will be cooking and serving a hot dog picnic lunch. For the regular cost of lunch (suggested donation $2.50). You will get a full picnic lunch menu with extras. Join us to celebrate with your friends, on September 8th, 2010.
For all our new members - coffee is 10 cents per cup. You DO NOT get a free cup of coffee with your lunch! Each cup is 10 cents. if you just want a cup of water or soda, they are 5 cents per cup, the contents are free!! NO FREE CUPS - please! We haven't changed our price of coffee in 25 years!!
Swimming - will also change during this month and for the summer. When school closes or half days, there will be NO SWIMMING. Check with swimming instructor weekly to get current.
