The Advantage After-school Program is a four (4) year grant funded by the Office of
Children and Family Services and administered by the Northwest Buffalo Community Center.

The grants provides educational, social awareness, parent involvement,
and recreational opportunities for all the participants in the two sites where
it operates within

  • Pinnacle Charter School: Grades K - 8
  • Charter School for Applied Technologies – Middle and High School: Grades 7 - 12

Each site provides a schedule of activities that incorporates all of the above mention
programs as well as specialized services like job training workshops, violence
prevention and intervention workshops, guest speakers etc.  

The Philosophy of the Advantage Program is:
  • To improve the social, emotional and vocational competencies of school age children
and youth

  • To Prevent and/or reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancy amongst the teenage
population we serve.

  • To reduce/prevent negative behavior such as violence, gang involvement, smoking,
  • drugs and alcohol use and abuse, school suspension and truancy as well as other
  • health issues that effect their behavior.

  • Finally, to provide the parents with a safe after-school environment for their
  • children/youth as well as opportunities for them to participate in the program
  • as volunteers and decision makers.
